The term ‘Integrated Membrane System, is usually used in describing water treatment system that uses membranes. This can mean a system that integrates 2 or more membrane processes or as a system that is combining a membrane with other processes.

This is common used in delivering portable water, which we treat any water, until the ‘clean’ quality. After that we use membranes as the advance treatment to change the water that we treated to become potable water.

For other advance treatment is in using integrated membrane system is for waste water recycling. Maybe not to converse all the waste to clean water, but at least to minimize the volume of waste that will be disposal, an effort to reach zero liquid discharge and to remove total dissolved solids in the water.

The membranes that are use can be micro filtration, ultra filtration, and reverse osmosis. This process needs a pressure driven processes and electrical driven processes.
